We decided to treat Su Ho Woo to some authentic Korean food so we took him to a local restaurant in our area for a buffet where he could get everything from fresh seafood to Kimchi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimchi
The New Korean Restaurant is located at 2030 Ft. Campbell Blvd in Clarksville, TN and their number is (931) 645-6479 since you can do dine in or carry out. They are open seven days a week. Monday – Thursday 11-10, Friday and Saturday 11-11 and Sunday 1-9.
I will let the pictures do the talking for me.
It was good to the last drop. We came home and sat around a fire in the pit that is on our back patio until time to go to bed, just discussing the different cultures and various topics.
This morning, I made sure that he had a big breakfast to start him out on his journey
Along with juice, eggs and toast he was set to prepare for his journey.
Hubby and Su Ho Woo went over his travel route so that he would know what elements and conditions he could expect. Also what routes to follow that would make his journey easier.
Just before his departure he surprised us both with a gift and something to always remember him by.
We miss his presence already and wish him a safe journey on his quest. He is going to try and check in every so often to send me pictures and keep us updated so that I can blog about his progress across the USA to Los Angeles California.
Should you see a lone biker out there with flags, stop and say hello. That might just make their day. It might enrich your life more than theirs.
May we show him kindness the entire way of his trip.
God Bless him for his quest and for what it stands for.

Road Trip A-Z Challenge Day 17

This afternoon, while my husband was on his way to the local store, he passed a biker on the side of the road. Many people during the course of the day, I am certain passed this same biker and thought nothing of it. My hubby quickly ran his errands and then proceeded to find the biker on his way home.
What had caught the attention of my hubby was the small flags that were flying on on back of the bicycle. He invited him to join us in our home for the evening.
His name is SuHo Woo. He is riding from Washington D. C. to Los Angeles California on his bicycle to signify the need for peace in South Korea.
He is soon to be 30 yrs. of age. He is fascinating to sit down and converse with. Only certain sections of the country have given him a cold shoulder and have not shown a welcome hospitality to him. Shame on them. They are the ones who missed out.
He is a true gentleman in all aspects of the word. Very polite and respectful. He had lunch with us of pulled pork, southern baked beans and southern potato salad from a local restaurant. He was able to taste some real Southern style foods that come directly from our area. Davie’s Hot House B- B -Q (1754 Woodlawn Rd, Clarksville, TN 37042) if you happen to come to the outskirts of Clarksville and are hungry some time. They are only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Plan accordingly.
This is going to be a long journey for this young man. It is a way for him to clear his head and look bright into the future. He has overcame back injury through exercise and the biking is something that he truly enjoys.
He also has his camera so while I was snapping shots, I had to capture memories of today for him as well. Tonight we are taking him to a local Korean Restaurant as a treat. My hubby is just as excited as Su Ho Woo. It is one of my hubby’s favorite places to go. I will be taking pictures throughout the meal and will blog about it upon our return.
He is staying the night with us and will continue on his journey after I have fed him a hearty breakfast to give him plenty of energy for his ride.

Person is Sgt. Keith Hale.
This is a little about SGT Keith Hale, the recipient of this years Mikefest donations. Thank you for writing this TiAnna – MRSGT Keith Hale joined the Army after 9\11 to stand up for the country he loves.
He has been married to his wife TiAnna for 10 yrs and they have 3 amazing kids Zach, Kaley and Nathan who is autistic.
Keith 1st deployed with the 1/115th Shelbyville in 2005 for 15 months to TQ, Iraq, where he was a scout truck driver.
His 2nd deployment was with the 278th HHT RFS to Mosul, Iraq and was now a truck commander for the scout truck (scout trucks go out in front of the convoy).
Over the deployments there were many close calls.
In June 2010, he was having some issues with dizziness and vomiting but he would push through to continue the mission.
On June 5th, they were coming into FOB Spiecher there was a wreck and a lot of confusion.
He fell from the back of the MRAP and received a brain injury and spinal nerve injury that caused damage to his right leg.
He still carries the nickname deadleg.
He still has many uphill battles, medically speaking, but will continue to soldier up.

Wounded Warrior Sgt. Keith Hale is the recipient this year of all of the raffle proceeds.
Vendors for non-food spots are filling fast so if you were interested in this, do not put it off or you will only be able to submit a basket and will not have a vendor spot.
Each year this has grown. The function was just featured in Clarksville Now:
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Hard-rock bands from the Nashville and Clarksville areas will perform at the fifth-annual Mikefest on Saturday, May 4, to raise money for Sgt. Keith Hale and his family.
The outdoor event, at 3825 Old Dover Road North in Woodlawn, just south of Fort Campbell, will feature several hard-rock bands from the Nashville/Clarksville areas.
Bands confirmed to play include: Mindset Defect, Killing Grace and Transcend the Fallen.
Although admission is free, donations are accepted, and all proceeds will go to Sgt. Keith Hale and his family. Hale was wounded in Iraq during June 2010.
Several vendors will be selling food and drinks, and raffles and live music will be provided for crowds to enjoy during the festival.
Each year, hundreds of people attend to show their support for local music and businesses and America’s troops. This is an all-ages festival, and families are welcome. Violence, gang colors and drugs are strictly prohibited.
Mikefest is a free, annual event created by Byron and Melissa Russell in remembrance of Michael Charles Russell, who passed away during their vacation while on a ride at Disney World, due to a non-diagnosed heart condition. Rather than mourning Michael’s passing, they now celebrate his life by remembering him through this fundraiser, which benefits a different charity each year.
“Since the passing of our son, Michael, in 2006 we have received a tremendous amount of support from the Clarksville, Fort Campbell and Woodlawn communities. So in 2008, we decided to stop mourning his loss and celebrate his life with local charities each year,” the Russell’s said.

Weekly Writing Challenge: Iconic
Every city, every culture, and every religion has iconic symbols that embody its essence. For New York, it may be the Empire State Building, Katz’s Deli, or those ubiquitous I ♥ New York t-shirts. For rock and roll fans, it may be leather jackets, vinyl records, or some oversized headphones to capture every bit of musical glory. Either way, certain items take on the persona and symbolism of particular cultures and places in our lives.
For this week’s challenge, we want you to snap a photo of something that is iconic to you. It can be a local pizza joint in your town that is unlike any other and conjures up memories of home whenever you’re away. It can be a photograph of a religious statue that’s been handed down from generations in your family that symbolizes your beliefs. Or it can even be a picture of your favorite pair of shoes that you wear nearly every day and has come to personify your personal style.
Then, pull some inspiration from our previous “1,000 Words” challenges and write a story using your picture. Of course, you can give us the real story behind your icon, but if you’re itching for a more creative challenge, try these ideas on for size:
- Make up a legend about the origin of your icon of choice
- If your photo is of a place or monument, tell a story with your symbol as the setting
- Revisit your icon as an archeologist 500 years in the future, and try to discern its significance
- Personify your symbol and tell its story from its own perspective
This may only seem like an average photograph of me allowing a post to hold me up. What is Iconic about this photo is the history behind the photo.
The last train is right behind me.
This station is no longer running. The last train has ran it’s course as the Monkey’s pointed out. This was just one song that the group produced. It was iconic that it helped to establish Clarksville, Tennessee on the map. An icon that would always be remembered through the song.
We have so many iconic symbols in this city. Wilma Rudolph was another great iconic symbol. Her statue is present in the city to signify her great ability. Many of us only dream to achieve a small portion of what that woman overcame in her life to be able to achieve. If you are not familiar with her story, perhaps a brief history lesson is necessary to refresh your memory. It will be worth the stroll on the link.

Clarksville, Tennessee, in Montgomery County, is a bustling city built by the tobacco trade. The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center, in the city’s historic district, was originally constructed as a US Post Office during the tobacco boom. Now it has been converted into art gallery, history center, and hands-on children’s museum. Just outside of town is the Dunbar Cave State Park, where visitors can hike through caverns that were once mined for gun powder and used for big band concerts.

What does your ideal community look like? How is it organized, and how is community life structured? What values does the community share?
I must sound like a broken record on this one. Were we are located gives us a touch of the country while being right next to Clarksville, Tennessee and Ft. Campbell, Kentucky so we have the best of both worlds. Till I woke up this morning.
We have snow…what is this? It is New York State weather. Not normal Tennessee weather. I borrowed these pictures from a friend who took them last night and this morning.
We are not supposed to have hail dropping on our daffodils.
What is up with snow? Yes I know we can still see the ground but the black ice is incredible.

While Clarksville and Woodlawn area offer all the schools, hospital and shopping that one needs, not to mention places to eat and visit…oops I just did lol.
Ft. Campbell is a city within itself. It has it’s own schools, hospital, shopping, restaurants and things to do.
The community where we are is small and quiet. When our dog Trina was frightened and ran away for a day, the community came out to help find her. People actually stopped to ask if we were looking for a child.
She came home just as it got dark (she is afraid of the dark and was hungry. First thing she did was check her New Box of Milkbones to make sure they were still there.
