Such A Local Loss of An Officer

Emotional Funeral Held For Slain Bardstown Officer

http://www.newschannel5.com/story/22456776/emotional-funeral-for-slain-officer

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (AP) – Hundreds of people lined the streets of Bardstown and packed into a church for the emotional funeral of a police officer fatally shot on a highway exit ramp.

The coffin of 33-year-old Jason Ellis was draped in an American flag Thursday for the 1 1/2-hour service. At least a half-dozen speakers took to the podium at Parkway Baptist Church.

The crowd included Ellis’ wife and two young sons as well as police officers from across Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin told mourners that Ellis was a fun-loving jokester who dressed as an elf at a town Christmas party, and he was proud of his work taking drugs off the streets with his K-9 partner.

Ellis was shot to death early Saturday morning on his way home from work. Police said he got out of his cruiser to remove debris from the roadway when he was killed. An investigation was ongoing. A $100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest.

Weekly Photo Challenge: In The Background Of My Yard

CIMG1410

As the Average person looks at this photo, They see a citronella candle sticking out of a bush.  A lawn with a series of trees.

What I see when I look at this photos is besides a shrub that needs to be trimmed is a sunset that is over Kentucky as I am standing in Tennessee.

On a regular basis I can sit and look out my window and watch a storm front pass over our area and head straight into Kentucky past those same trees, totally missing our area.

Huge bolts of lightening in the night sky that pass by that small space lighting it up as if it were day.  This night it was calm, the cloud formation was so beautiful as the sun was setting over the horizon over the state of Kentucky.

In the Background: The places that we pass through day after day, or even once in a lifetime, leave in their small way, echoes and traces of themselves upon us. But so often when taking self portraits or pictures of friends, the places themselves become a soft blurred mush of indistinct semi-nothingness, the limelight stolen by our smiling faces. In today’s challenge, let’s turn the tables. Take a picture of yourself or someone else as a shadow, a reflection, or a lesser part of a scene, making the background, or — as in the example above — the foreground, the center of attention. http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/05/24/weekly-photo-challenge-in-the-background/

What do you see in the Background?  Do you have photo’s that capture more than what is just present?  Would love to hear.

Daily Prompt: Organizations I Chose To Be Beneficiaries

Daily Prompt: Charitable

You’ve inherited $5 million, with instructions that you must give it all away — but you can choose any organizations you like to be the beneficiaries. Where does the money go?

th

Wow with that amount of money it was a tough question.

1. Mike Fest 2013  (Would set it up so each year a recipient would receive a set amount).  This year is Wounded Warrior Sgt. Keith Hale.

2. Paws with a Cause Local Chapter Max’s Hope

https://layedbacklife.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/give-a-shout-out-to-our-local-organization/

The other charities I would have to think about for a bit and ponder.  My reason for this is that I have a problem with Administrative fees.  With these two that I have chosen, the money goes directly to the cause at hand for what is intended.

Perhaps if I just split between the two that would be enough to keep MikeFest and Max’s Hope going for years to come.

Daily Prompt: Idyllic Community

Daily Prompt: Idyllic

What does your ideal community look like? How is it organized, and how is community life structured? What values does the community share?

I must sound like a broken record on this one.  Were we are located gives us a touch of the country while being right next to Clarksville, Tennessee and Ft. Campbell, Kentucky so we have the best of both worlds.  Till I woke up this morning.

We have snow…what is this?  It is New York State weather.  Not normal Tennessee weather.  I borrowed these pictures from a friend who took them last night and this morning.

We are not supposed to have hail dropping on our daffodils.

What is up with snow?  Yes I know we can still see the ground but the black ice is incredible.

While Clarksville and Woodlawn area offer all the schools, hospital and shopping that one needs, not to mention places to eat and visit…oops I just did lol.

Ft. Campbell is a city within itself.  It has it’s own schools, hospital, shopping, restaurants and things to do.

The community where we are is small and quiet.  When our dog Trina was frightened and ran away for a day, the community came out to help find her.  People actually stopped to ask if we were looking for a child.

She came home just as it got dark (she is afraid of the dark and was hungry.  First thing she did was check her New Box of Milkbones to make sure they were still there.

What is your perfect community?  Do you live in it now?  Would love to hear…

Tennessee Sky At Night

Just as it started to become dusk I decided to follow the yard and take pictures randomly… I do not claim to be a photographer and I am only using a Casio Exilim Camera so this is what I came up with to describe my back yard besides peaceful.

We really need to call power company out here because this beacon of light guides the helicopters from nearby Ft. Campbell, KY on their flight path…

Where the sun is setting is Ft. Campbell, KY and is just across the highway which our tree hedge totally hides…

Just shortly after the sun has set and here is the same shot…

Now the animals are all getting ready for bed…

Present and accounted for since it is now dark out…

Even DC comes in to terra cotta floor at night…

Hubby…goes where it is cool…

I burned a citronella candle so he does not get eaten alive…

Namaste,

Tammye Honey
