The Big Day Arrived

Sunday was a really big day in our home.  My hubby had turned 60 on Saturday.

He had decided to be baptised.  We also became members of our local church.1452219_10152223045671395_3784083762256285537_n 10500575_10152223045776395_1105077418240876326_n 10441946_10152223045926395_6668474144332243260_n 10377082_10203067400379045_9040410826595887509_n 10458751_10203062499016514_8189643735771160991_n 10501974_10203061794718907_6800928585933687816_n

Thank you for traveling through our day…we had a huge picnic that was a wonderful success thanks to the wonderful women from Oakwood Freewill Baptist Church and all of their help.   There was so much food that every table was full.  Special thanks to Pastor James for the Baptisim and making such a difference in my hubby’s life.  Also a special shout out to hubby’s son Christopher Green who helped in the kitchen as well as being the grill master for the day.

Tammye Green.

Writing 101, Day Eight: Cash and Carry Barn is a great find

writing-101-june-2014-class-badge-2

Go to a local café, park, or public place and report on what you see. Get detailed: leave no nuance behind.

To drive past The Cash and Carry Barn which is located at 951 Lafayette Rd, Clarksville, TN 37042 it looks like a monument store.  If you have kept driving you have missed out on a huge treat.  They are so much more. (931) 503-9921 is their number to call.

Rather than skip the adverbs I had a better idea.  Show you.  Since they are open year round they have lots of pictures on their Facebook page.

Saturday Mornings there means fresh baked goods:

Then there is the homemade salsa, pickles, relishes, various apple butters, pie fillings and fresh baked pies.

Did I mention the fresh vegetables.  They are open year round.  They have a great green house.

Spreading The Word To Please Vote

My neighbor is very supportive of his son.  I have had many posts on my blogs about the family previously if you search through my two years of blogging and you come across anything to do with MikeFest.  They are the founders of that program.

Their son is in a group that is called Eye Tooth.  This band plays not only locally but across the state of Tennessee.  They have been in a competition recently and have required people to vote for them.

Right now their standings are looking rather good.

I have watched this young man grow up and be a part of not only this band but also this community.  He is a good role model for our youth and should be supported.

Please take the time to vote for Eye Tooth.

Life in Green Acres

Since June our lives have been in a small tornado of whirls here and there.  Mostly we have been to various doctors offices to spend our days with appointments.

It took from June till December for hubby to get cleared for a double hernia operation and a blockage in the private area.  Would have been November but he took ibuprofen not knowing that it is the same as aspirin.  So December it was, just a few days prior to Christmas.

He sat on ice packs and followed the doctor’s orders and was semi mending fine.  On to next doctor.

In January he had part of the inside of his mouth removed by the lower lip and chin area.  A few stitches that he called a caterpillar on the top of his lip and we were told that we were doing good.   It had been pre-cancer cells and that it was good that he had come in to have it done.

The day that we went to have his stitches removed it felt like the world had just been swirled around in a circle for us.

1503856_10202025836020587_988885660_n 1607106_10202025836980611_1399762810_n

It was the first time I have ever seen tears come to my husbands eyes in a doctor’s office as they called me into the exam room.

The doctor told us that the results showed sun or radiation damage and that he was looking at stage 3 cancer.

Now the appointments are being made to travel on a regular basis to Nashville TN where we will be seeing specialists at Vanderbilt Hospital.

I have the crying down to just in my sleep now so life is better.

Where we go from here is totally in Gods hands and lots of prayers.  The doctors there are some of the best in the nation.

Trying to blog or do anything right now is an effort.  I know that I must push on and be strong.

I am grateful for wonderful and comforting friends who are supportive through this and we both have wonderful family who are with us through all of it.

With time and prayer we will concur this and life will get better.  I have the faith.

Lessons learned…

Love your spouse each day and appreciate that they are here.

Do not take any form of aspirin or ibuprofen if you are due to have surgery for a month prior.

Smile and enjoy what life gives you.

Till our next appointment,

Tammye Honey

Daily Prompt: Giving Thanks For What I Have

Daily Prompt: Keeping up with the Jones’

Tell us about the one luxury item you wish you could afford, in as much detail as you can.
Paint a picture for us.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us COVET.

IMG_0002

I am really happy with what we have.
I can not think of anything that I would covet that someone else has.
We are semi healthy for our age.
We have two healthy dogs and a cat.
We are happily married now for almost 5 years.

We own our home (Have a mortgage but who doesn’t these days?)
We live in the country but are not far from the city.
We live in a wonderful neighborhood

We have a lot of comfort features in life.
(Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer, Dryer, Big Screen TV, Internet, Computers, WiFi, etc)
We work our businesses from our home and in our jammies most of the time.
We are blessed with healthy children and many grandchildren.
We have several wonderful kind friends.
We have heat, running water and food in fridge and freezer as well as the pantry.
We have clothes in our closet.

What would we want that we could add to that?  More Money?
Perhaps that would be nice.  Then we could pay off our Mortgage early.
The payments are made each month so we are happy.

I ask my readers, what would you want that you do not have?

Enlighten me please with a comment…

Be careful what you wish for…

Daily Prompt: No Rolling Stone Here

Daily Prompt: Rolling Stone

If you could live a nomadic life, would you?
Where would you go? How would you decide?
What would life be like without a “home base”?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us TRAVEL.

We happen to know several couples who own an RV (Recreational Vehicle) and travel back and forth from each of their childrens homes across the United States.
To constantly be in a trailer, mobile home or what ever you want to call it is not what lifestyle I would ever want.
Granted, they have no mortgage (unless they owe on the RV) and only have to pay for car gasoline.
They do not have to pay property taxes, just for the license of the RV.

I think that it takes a certain type of person, one who loves camping to live like this.
To always be on the road and traveling.  To stop at various cities and not know anyone.
It is a special type of person who really enjoys this lifestyle and would not buy a home again.
Sometimes it is all about the ability to keep up the home.  (Although, you have to maintain an RV also).

I prefer to be able to walk into my own back yard and take my doggies (and kitties) for a walk.
When I walk them it is all four of them.  The cats do their duty at the same times as the dogs.
The dogs love being able to play in the neighbors hayfield and the neighbor does not mind either.
He says it looks like our dogs are patrolling their property and they feel safer because of it.

I like having roots here and a place where my children could come to visit if they wanted to for a vacation.

I love the weather in Tennessee, especially in the Winter.
While locals think we are having terrible weather or temperatures,  I am enjoying not having snow to my waist.

Daily Prompt: Citizen of Today

Daily Prompt: 21st Century Citizen

Do you belong in this day and age?
Do you feel comfortable being a citizen of the 21st-century?
If you do, explain why —
and if you don’t,
when in human history would you rather be?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us MODERN.

Let’s get real here for a second… there is not an era that has gone by that has not had it’s trials and tribulations.
With that being said, living for today and making a difference in todays society might just have an impact on tomorrow.

  • Being kind to a stranger (even a smile or kind word)
  • Being a foster parent to stray animals
  • Being a helping hand in your community
  • Teaching a class for just the cost of supplies in your community
  • Having a get to know you party in your neighborhood

Our neighbors got to know us when we went around with cameras and video equiptment and loved the video we made…

It did not cost us anything and did not hurt the environment at all…gave a smile to 28,135 people so far…

It was a way for me to get to know my neighbors and they got to know me as the lady from NY with the camera lol…

What have you done in this century to make an impact?

Would love to hear…

Daily Prompt: I Took A Leap Of Faith

Daily Prompt: Might As Well Jump

What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to? What would have to happen to make you comfortable taking it?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us JUMP.

It will be four years in September since I took that Jump in life.  I was told it would not last.  I was told I would grow bored and move on.  I was told I was a nomad and I could not handle settling down to one spot for too long.  Perhaps that was my flame of incentive to make the second half of my life my own and make it work against all odds.

I bought a used pick up truck which I had some work done on and began to pack.  It was not easy leaving all that had become familiar.  It was not my life I was living though.  I was living a life that was given to me by others.

I have been blessed in life.  I have two beautiful daughters who both have great men in their lives.  They both have beautiful children and have happy lives.  I realize that it is painful that I am not a part of their lives.  I miss them very much every day.

My body was giving me warning signs that it was time to slow down life.  I have never cared for city living.  It is a super fast paced way of life where at times you forget to breathe in between.  Perhaps that is why people who live in the city feel the need to “get away” for their vacations.  Now I live in a place where I do not feel the need for a vacation to get away.  Every day feels like another day that I am on vacation.  Life is relaxed and at a slow pace here.  We take each day as it is thrown at us for what it is worth and enjoy it.  We take time to smell the coffee in the morning as it is brewing.  We have our windows slightly open during the rain storm to enjoy the essence of ozone.  We enjoy the magnolia tree outside in the back yard with it’s majestic stature.

I had prayed about moving to Tennessee for many a night.  I had wondered how it would even be possible.  I had placed it all in God’s hands to find a way if it was his will.  As I sat in a little local pizzaria with a friend a pick up pulled up with a forsale sign on it.  The price was right.  I sent pictures to Eman and he said yes to get it.  He mailed me the plates from Tennessee and the stickers that I needed and I got it inspected.  I stored it in my friend’s drive way with a tarp to cover the back.  So my new adventure began…

Daily Prompt: Dear John Letter

Daily Prompt: Shape Up or Ship Out

Write a letter to the personality trait you like least, convincing it to shape up or ship out.
Be as threatening, theatrical, or thoroughly charming as is necessary to get the job done.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us UGLY.

Dear Introverted Self:

Since your arrival in Tennessee almost four years ago, it has come to the worlds attention that you have become a home body.
We do agree that your 7 1/2 acres is a beautiful place to live.
The magnolia tree in the back is just now starting to bloom with the magnificent blossoms that smell so wonderful.
druid

The humming birds are just returning so the feeders must be prepared for their return.
The herb flower pots are ready to start to be planted. The front of the store will soon look like a small green house.
IMG_0002The apple trees have just bean to bloom and their fragrance can be smelled across the yard the entire summer.
IMG_0002 (3)
We understand that it is difficult to drive with the sciatic nerve condition in your left leg trying to use the clutch.
A slight complication of the two fractured fingers on the left hand does give you a legitimate argument of safety while driving.

You win for now.  There will come a time when this dear john letter will be sent again.
There is an entire side of the city that you have never seen.
If something were to happen to your hubby I shiver to think what would happen if you could not purchase online, on base or at Walmart or Kroger.
You have a break till you heal.  Oh and another break till hubby’s surgery is over.
Then it is time to explore.  There is life after Dollar General.  Just because that is so close does not mean that you can’t find some adventure in life.
