While Waiting at the Doctor’s Appointments

I am not a person who can just sit idle in a doctor’s office without getting antsy.
I love to take my crocheting with me so that I have something to keep me busy and keep my mind off of why we are there.
I have found that it keeps me focused and makes the time go by so much faster.

We had several weeks of  back to back appointments so here is my creations.

My inspiration was the scarf that Mikey had as a challenge at https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Crochet-Crowd/116482731742088  The Crochet Crowd.

A hat to keep my head warm.  Fingerless Gloves with a hat of their own lol.  The shimmering heart scarf.

Some of my projects that I am working on are just too large to transport so I have to find little things to fill the void.

With my Kindle Fire I can download my pattern and take it with me.
I have also picked up many new prospective students too, who want to learn to do what I am making.

Let me know how I am doing so far…would love to hear from you.

What is your latest project?  Share it with me please.

Life in Green Acres

Since June our lives have been in a small tornado of whirls here and there.  Mostly we have been to various doctors offices to spend our days with appointments.

It took from June till December for hubby to get cleared for a double hernia operation and a blockage in the private area.  Would have been November but he took ibuprofen not knowing that it is the same as aspirin.  So December it was, just a few days prior to Christmas.

He sat on ice packs and followed the doctor’s orders and was semi mending fine.  On to next doctor.

In January he had part of the inside of his mouth removed by the lower lip and chin area.  A few stitches that he called a caterpillar on the top of his lip and we were told that we were doing good.   It had been pre-cancer cells and that it was good that he had come in to have it done.

The day that we went to have his stitches removed it felt like the world had just been swirled around in a circle for us.

1503856_10202025836020587_988885660_n 1607106_10202025836980611_1399762810_n

It was the first time I have ever seen tears come to my husbands eyes in a doctor’s office as they called me into the exam room.

The doctor told us that the results showed sun or radiation damage and that he was looking at stage 3 cancer.

Now the appointments are being made to travel on a regular basis to Nashville TN where we will be seeing specialists at Vanderbilt Hospital.

I have the crying down to just in my sleep now so life is better.

Where we go from here is totally in Gods hands and lots of prayers.  The doctors there are some of the best in the nation.

Trying to blog or do anything right now is an effort.  I know that I must push on and be strong.

I am grateful for wonderful and comforting friends who are supportive through this and we both have wonderful family who are with us through all of it.

With time and prayer we will concur this and life will get better.  I have the faith.

Lessons learned…

Love your spouse each day and appreciate that they are here.

Do not take any form of aspirin or ibuprofen if you are due to have surgery for a month prior.

Smile and enjoy what life gives you.

Till our next appointment,

Tammye Honey

Daily Prompt: No Rolling Stone Here

Daily Prompt: Rolling Stone

If you could live a nomadic life, would you?
Where would you go? How would you decide?
What would life be like without a “home base”?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us TRAVEL.

We happen to know several couples who own an RV (Recreational Vehicle) and travel back and forth from each of their childrens homes across the United States.
To constantly be in a trailer, mobile home or what ever you want to call it is not what lifestyle I would ever want.
Granted, they have no mortgage (unless they owe on the RV) and only have to pay for car gasoline.
They do not have to pay property taxes, just for the license of the RV.

I think that it takes a certain type of person, one who loves camping to live like this.
To always be on the road and traveling.  To stop at various cities and not know anyone.
It is a special type of person who really enjoys this lifestyle and would not buy a home again.
Sometimes it is all about the ability to keep up the home.  (Although, you have to maintain an RV also).

I prefer to be able to walk into my own back yard and take my doggies (and kitties) for a walk.
When I walk them it is all four of them.  The cats do their duty at the same times as the dogs.
The dogs love being able to play in the neighbors hayfield and the neighbor does not mind either.
He says it looks like our dogs are patrolling their property and they feel safer because of it.

I like having roots here and a place where my children could come to visit if they wanted to for a vacation.

I love the weather in Tennessee, especially in the Winter.
While locals think we are having terrible weather or temperatures,  I am enjoying not having snow to my waist.

Daily Prompt: Taking A Vacation

Daily Prompt: Tourist Trap

What’s your dream tourist destination — either a place you’ve been and loved, or a place you’d love to visit?

I don’t like big crowds so that really rules out a lot of places.  I love to take day trips.

Yes She’s a Yankee from New York and I’m a Rebel from Tennessee. 034 (4) 034 (2) world Emmylou Harris and me on stage at the Grand Ole Opry 005 010 (4) 016 002Nashville is great to take day trips and still not see everything

What about it speaks to you?

There is so much to see and so much history there and history in the making.  Nashville Tennessee is a great place to visit for us.

We can take in a concert or just see the street musicians and see the historical beauty.  Only being one hour from home.

The trip is inexpensive and fits well in our budget.  We do not break the bank to do it.  Every trip is different.

Daily Prompt: Journey Into The Past

Daily Prompt: Journey

Tell us about a journey — whether a physical trip you took, or an emotional one.

Photographers, show us JOURNEY.

CIMG2655

Last night with our house guest was an emotional journey for my hubby.  In his mind, he was able to go back in time to a period when he was so familiar with having biked with two friends across South Korea.

So Ho Woo and my hubby sat out by the fire talking about various places in South Korea that my hubby had been.  They even discussed a time when my hubby and his buddy’s had came across a funeral procession that they suddenly found themselves a part of.

As the evening progressed, one could hear the sound of laughter from both as they each shared stories.  With my hubby and his P.T.S.D., this was a good memory and one well worth discovering all over again.

The discussion of the process of how kimchi is made to the wall that is in South Korea, the topics were broad yet narrow.

God works in mysterious ways as my hubby was able to share with this stranger, things that he knew I might never totally understand.  This stranger was able to convey some of the fears that he faced while being on the road alone to travel his journey to Los Angeles.  Perhaps the most significance came in two strangers meeting on a road and becoming instant friends.  Perhaps a friendship that will last till death.

Of all of the cars that had past this lad on his journey.  To be stopped by an individual and asked in Korean if he was hungry.  That was the beginning of a journey.  One that we will remember for a very long time.

CIMG2660

Perhaps the next time you pass a bicyclist on the shoulder of the road, a kind word or offer of food or water might make all the difference to them.

So Ho Woo had an unexplainable bad experience in the Knoxville, TN area to then go to Nashville, TN and spend an entire evening alone.
We are glad that we were able to show him that Tennessee can be friendly and warm.
That kindness does exist out there in the world.
Perhaps others might think twice about laying on the horn and blaring the sound then saluting him with a middle finger as they pass him.

Shame on those motorists who missed out on the chance to take an incredible journey with a young man on a quest.

Road Trip A-Z Challenge Day 17

Post A-to-Z Road Trip [2013]

http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/2013/05/want-to-join-us-for-ultimate-road-trip.html

This afternoon, while my husband was on his way to the local store, he passed a biker on the side of the road.  Many people during the course of the day, I am certain passed this same biker and thought nothing of it.  My hubby quickly ran his errands and then proceeded to find the biker on his way home.

What had caught the attention of my hubby was the small flags that were flying on on back of the bicycle.  He invited him to join us in our home for the evening.

His name is SuHo Woo.  He is riding from Washington D. C. to Los Angeles California on his bicycle to signify the need for peace in South Korea.

He is soon to be 30 yrs. of age.  He is fascinating to sit down and converse with.  Only certain sections of the country have given him a cold shoulder and have not shown a welcome hospitality to him.  Shame on them.  They are the ones who missed out.

CIMG2654

He is a true gentleman in all aspects of the word.  Very polite and respectful.  He had lunch with us of pulled pork, southern baked beans and southern potato salad from a local restaurant.  He was able to taste some real Southern style foods that come directly from our area.  Davie’s Hot House B- B -Q (1754 Woodlawn Rd, Clarksville, TN 37042) if you happen to come to the outskirts of Clarksville and are hungry some time.  They are only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Plan accordingly.

CIMG2655 CIMG2656 CIMG2657

This is going to be a long journey for this young man.  It is a way for him to clear his head and look bright into the future.  He has overcame back injury through exercise and the biking is something that he truly enjoys.

CIMG2658 CIMG2659 CIMG2660

He also has his camera so while I was snapping shots, I had to capture memories of today for him as well.  Tonight we are taking him to a local Korean Restaurant as a treat.  My hubby is just as excited as Su Ho Woo.  It is one of my hubby’s favorite places to go.  I will be taking pictures throughout the meal and will blog about it upon our return.

He is staying the night with us and will continue on his journey after I have fed him a hearty breakfast to give him plenty of energy for his ride.

Best of luck to Su Ho Woo and his journey as well as the cause that he rides for.

Till after Dinner,

Tammye Honey

Road Trip A-Z Challenge, Day 17 Tomorrow (Took a detour)

Post A-to-Z Road Trip [2013]

Between our store for Tupperware and answering phone calls for MikeFest 2013, we have been super busy today.  We are on our own type of road trip on a quest of trying to track down the last few vendors to make our total arrive at 30 on premises Vendors who will be at this years event.

We are inquiring about fresh honey vendors in our local area who might want a booth.  There is an entire association in our area so we are hoping for a response before we become full.

We are still looking for an Avon representative (Hoping that we have found one).

We are looking for someone who hand makes Americana Items.

We are down to the wire now with June 8th starting into the count down..
