Writing 101: Day 2 Where would I go today?

Sometimes we read things on others Facebook posts that were not necessarily meant for us but the point is taken anyways.
Today was one of those days as I glanced upon my wall and saw a post about Motherless by Choice.  It hit a nerve with me and hurt.

If I could be anywhere today just for a fleeting moment in time it would be to sit next to both of my daughters just for a few minutes of their busy lives.
To be able to give them a hug, a big kiss and tell them that I truly do love them.  How proud I am of them and their success in life.

I know that there are scars in the past life and that they hold them tight.  My heart aches over this and you can’t go back and erase time or get a redo.

Life is a learning curve.  We learn from our mistakes.  We get stronger as we get older and we learn what not to do again.

I have asked forgiveness and was not allowed to have it.  From that one must go one with life.  It does not help the pain.

As I sit here and shed tears it does no good.  I realize this.  Only a head ache will occur.

Just a few minutes to hug my grand children would feel so good.  I am not getting any younger and I know that my health is not getting any better either.
These past few years have really taken a toll on me and as I reflect back it is useless to comprehend on what could have been different.  It can’t change now.

Little do they know that my heart is always with them and that my thoughts follow them through their journey of life.  Even if it is only on Facebook or an occasional text.

Perhaps some day things will be different.  I pray every night that God will soften the pain for all three of us.

Daily Prompt: The meaning of love

stop by and see us

What does love mean to you?

by Scott Berkun on August 5, 2011

Topic #210:

What does love mean to you?
We talk about love all the time, but rarely do we sit down and think about what it is.
How our behavior helps us get more or less of the kind of love we desire.

How does platonic love differ from romantic love?
How does the love we get from a parent differ from the love we get from a friend?
Or a dog?
Is love a feeling or a set of behaviors?

This topic suggested by Timmer at Timmer’s blog.

There are so many forms of love.
Truly love should be unconditional no matter who or what it is directed to.

Animals love unconditionally no matter who their owner is.

They do not distinguish between gender or species, or race.

They set an example for all of the humans.

There are a lot more variations of love though:

Daily Prompt: The People Around Me Are My Mentors

Daily Prompt: Cheering Section

Do you have a mentor?
Tell us about him or her.
Are you a mentor to someone else?
Tell us what that relationship has added to your life.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us SUPPORT.

This was a prompt that for some reason took a lot of thought for me.
I wrote about another topic on the day that it came out and just gave it time to slowly stew in my brain.
Even thought it is an interesting topic, it crosses a personal line where I might have to name a few individuals.

Since I do not like to pinpoint any one person (except my hubby, on occasion) I was hesitant to begin.
During the course of time that I have had to think about it, I have come to realize that the people that I come into contact with are my mentors.

I sit and listen to what they have to say.
I listen in a way that does not require a response.
That took me a long time to learn to do.
I have found that by doing that, I do learn from them various topics that I might never have known.

There are times when I am tempted to give a response, yet I refrain and wait.
By doing this, I have found that I learn so much more about that person and what makes them tick.

I then have the ability to ask questions about them.  I am able to clarify what I did not comprehend.
To be able to truly learn from another will make us stronger as an individual.  It helps us to nurish our relationships.

To really hear what someone has to say and not be biased is sometimes very difficult.
To allow them to have that moment to speak and feel that what they have to say is truly important does make a difference.
The other persons opinion might not be on the same track as mine, however their right to sound their thoughts and see the drive that has brought them to where their conviction is makes it worthwhile.

Conflict in life is not necessary.  Life is precious.  Life is so short.  We can all be gone in an instant.

Sometimes it is better to just stay in a peace mode and “Let It Be”

If it really will not make a difference ten years from now, is it worth getting upset about today?
Some of the conflicts in relationships could be easier if that policy were developed.
If we really listen to what the other person feels and not what is coming out of their mouth, we will begin to feel their passion and drive also.

Life is a mystery, make it feel like home.

Daily Prompt: Jealous Is Not A Word Here

Daily Prompt: Green-Eyed Monster

Tell us about the last time you were really, truly jealous of someone. Did you act on it? Did it hurt your relationship?

Photographers, show us something GREEN.

Jealousy is something that stems from insecurity in a relationship.
If a person is secure in the relationship and there has been no reasons to distrust the partner, there is no room for jealousy.

Great way to take a wonderful relationship and ruin it.

It causes pain, suffering and feelings that really only cause problems.

Lose the Green Eyed Monster or lose the relationship.

Hopefully life is better for you without the “Green Eyed Monster”.

Daily Prompt: Teachable Moment Is All About Hands On

Daily Prompt: Teachable Moment

by michelle w. on February 10, 2013

You have to learn a new skill. Do you prefer to read about it, watch someone else do it, hear someone describe it, or try it yourself?

Not only am I a “Hands on Learner”, I also teach the same way.  This post is just above two about my newest student.  It fits in so nicely.

There was a time back in the stone ages when I was just going through a divorce and could not afford to have plumbers, carpenters or electricians coming to the house to fix things.  So, I went to the local B.O.C.E.S. and took a Basic Electronics I & II Course.  If some basic wiring went wrong in the house or I had to change an outlet, a switch or  wanted to upgrade a lamp I could.

The local hardware store was wonderful.  They were only a phone call away.  My plumbing woes were solved.  I would walk in with a diagram of what was wrong and what I needed with the measurements and they would talk me through it with all the supplies.  If I hit a glitch when I got home, the speaker phone was on speed dial.

Since I did not own a car and had a really long driveway and an empty garage, a friend of mine asked if I would like to make some extra cash.  Hmm. Single mom, two teenage daughters and lots of formal dances to go to… First question, what am I doing? Second Question, Is it totally legal?

He changed out engines and his hands were so big that it was difficult to get into different areas.  I was his extra pair of hands.  With a set of overhauls and hair in a hat, I climbed into the truck.  With a can of WD40, I could loosen anything and get into the areas that were tiny with my long fingers.

When my daughters were older, I found myself going back to college as I needed some type of degree to get a decent job.  To work while I was going to school was difficult.  I decided to tutor while going to school.  I was supposed to tutor Anatomy and Physiology however, I found myself tutoring Computer 101 and English as well as Spanish.

Now I am taking my domestic skills and teaching others with a hands on approach.

Let me know what you think about how you learn and what style works for you.  Please take the time to answer the poll so that the readers can see the results.
