Daily Prompt: Giving Thanks For What I Have

Daily Prompt: Keeping up with the Jones’

Tell us about the one luxury item you wish you could afford, in as much detail as you can.
Paint a picture for us.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us COVET.

IMG_0002

I am really happy with what we have.
I can not think of anything that I would covet that someone else has.
We are semi healthy for our age.
We have two healthy dogs and a cat.
We are happily married now for almost 5 years.

We own our home (Have a mortgage but who doesn’t these days?)
We live in the country but are not far from the city.
We live in a wonderful neighborhood

We have a lot of comfort features in life.
(Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer, Dryer, Big Screen TV, Internet, Computers, WiFi, etc)
We work our businesses from our home and in our jammies most of the time.
We are blessed with healthy children and many grandchildren.
We have several wonderful kind friends.
We have heat, running water and food in fridge and freezer as well as the pantry.
We have clothes in our closet.

What would we want that we could add to that?  More Money?
Perhaps that would be nice.  Then we could pay off our Mortgage early.
The payments are made each month so we are happy.

I ask my readers, what would you want that you do not have?

Enlighten me please with a comment…

Be careful what you wish for…

Daily Prompt: Dear Telephone Solicitor

A word of advice to any poor soul who works as a telephone solicitor.
Speaking English is a plus.
Non English is tolerable if I can understand what you are trying to say. phone

http://www.easychoice.com/ tried to call three times today.
The background noise from other solicitors doing the same thing from other telephones was so bad that I could not hear the broken English of the person on the phone trying to reach me.  I realize that they are trying to make a living.  So am I.  I do not call everyone to try and make a sale.  My hubby gets up early in the morning and starts to advertise all over in free spots.  We do well with our businesses without annoying people with telephone calls.
creative thought1

I am suggesting this book to you so go to http://www.amazon.com and take a coffee break or a lunch break and read it.

cup of coffee

You might get some creative ideas on how to find a new way of making money without annoying people with caller id.

Then a local restaurant mysteriously found our business card in their fishbowl…two free tickets to dinner…too bad I recognized the voice as they are trying to sell a water system…

Have had two different businesses wanting to know if I want to place an order this month…

Hello world… hubby has to have surgery next month…we can’t buy anything till we know what our co-pay will be.

There now I feel better.

Guess my tag today is not a nice one.

Daily Prompt: Innovative Thoughts, Tomorrows Products

Daily Prompt: The Next Big Thing

What will the next must-have technological innovation be? Jetpacks? Hoverboards? Wind-powered calculators?

Photographers, show us INNOVATIVE.

clubs.ncsu.edu

Inventions a lot of times are created by someone who just did not like the way something worked and they had an idea of how it could be so much easier.

The average housewife finds ways to use products that are innovative in her daily routine without even realizing it.  She might take a product that was meant for one thing and use it for an entirely different purpose.  Men do the same thing in their workshops.  They might find a certain tool that if modified works much better on a project.

This is innovation this is the process of invention.

I have yet to see the slinky reinvented.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slinky

That was a simple invention that has been around for the decades.

Product Details

It does come in vibrant colors now and does glow in the dark.  What will be next for this product?

Product Details

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=slinky+toy

Will it be able to make perfect toast next?  Will the next step be a different movie theme?  This has proven to be a timeless toy.

It is similar to the Shape O Ball from Tupperware

Only the color has changed through the ages…it is also a timeless piece.

What would your innovative thoughts create?

Would love to hear from you.

Daily Prompt: The Elevator Episode

Daily Prompt: Elevator

Fiction writers: You’re stuck in an elevator with an intriguing stranger. Write this scene.

Non-fiction writers: You’re stuck in an elevator with a person from your past. Write this scene.

elevator doors

productfind.interiordesign….

It was a cold rainy evening.  She had forgotten her umbrella that was tucked in the trunk of her car as she ran for the door of her office building.  She only needed to pick up a few papers and would work on the materials at home.  It was no great task to just grab them and go.  The cleaning crew would be there so she would not be alone.  She felt secure in this building as she had worked there for many years now.  As she approached the elevator there was a well dressed man standing there.  He was totally dry.  There was no signs of an umbrella.  She thought how odd this was, then brushed the thought aside.

As they boarded the elevator, he held the door for her to allow her to enter first.  She entered, pushed her floor’s button then stepped back.  He proceeded to push his button without turning toward her and faced toward the front.  The doors had closed, yet nothing was moving.  She could feel a slight sense of panic rushing in that she was trying to brush aside.  Something did not feel right.

She stepped forward and pushed the button for her floor again.  Still nothing.  She pressed the emergency button.  There were no sounds.  No alarms.  The stranger was awkwardly very silent and motionless.  She could feel her heart pounding faster.  Her breathing was becoming a bit more rapid and she was beginning to feel a bit faint.

Her mind began to race with thoughts of panic.  If he killed her no one would know till morning.  What had she been thinking to get on the elevator with a stranger.  Why hadn’t she taken the stairs like she always did.  Now her life might be in danger.  In the hands of a total stranger who with one blow could wipe out her entire existence.

She thought of how she could defend herself.  She had left her purse in the car.  She could not even be identified.  Thoughts of the last time she had told her family that she loved them flashed before her eyes.

As she opened her eyes, she could feel the sweat pouring across her brow.  It was not just rain.  She had worked herself into a tizzy.  It was only a dream.

Relieved to find herself in her own bed, her own blankets and pillows surrounding her.  She had never left the comfort of her own apartment.  What could this dream have meant?

Person in bed

http://www.sodahead.com

One thing was totally clear to her from the dream, tomorrow she was definitely taking the stairs at work.

Are You Kidding Me?

Some of the companies out there with the telemarketing techniques are just too much.

Congratulations!  You have won a free Walmart Gift card for $100.00 if you give us your credit card information we will send it to you for $3.75.
Do they really think people are that stupid to hand over their information over the phone for something like this?
Are they seriously hard of hearing when you tell them NO…I do not want it…I will not give you my information…Do NOT Call…

This guy this morning acted like he was amazed that I was saying NO.  He would not stop.  I ended up hanging up on him only because I was too kind and would not put my hubby on the phone for one of his regular routines.
I do realize that they get paid only with commission and have to be pushy.  That is not my problem.  Is this the same type of person who goes on a date and the word No does not mean No to them?

I am so glad that we are on a do not call list.  So much good for that stupid list.

I feel the urge to actually say at times Are you F@@@ing kidding Me?  If you love me so much and I have won it then you know where I live, just send it.

The problem with that is that then you are on the phone for another 15 minutes as they explain why they need to do the processing and handling charges.

Process this people…If I wanted the product, I would have bought it by now.  If it is free, it always comes with a catch.  If it is that good then just send it to me.

There, I feel better now.

Daily Prompt: The Social Media and it’s use

Daily Prompt: The Social Network

Do you feel like you “get” social media, or do you just use it because that’s where all your friends and family are?

There are so many new forms of Social media today that are available to the general public.  We use the social media every day for advertising as well as for my blogs.  We also use it to tell the world about Mike Fest 2013 since we are trying to do a fundraiser for Wounded Warrior Sgt. Keith Hale

It is useful to keep track of what my oldest daughter and her family are doing on a regular basis.

What are your thoughts on social media?  What do you use the most and what do you use it for?

Would love to hear your thoughts so leave me a comment please.

Daily Prompt: Crash Diet on an island

Daily Prompt: Five a Day

You’ve being exiled to a private island, and your captors will only supply you with five foods. What do you pick?

Since I had no ideas on this post I decided to consult an expert in the field.  http://ezinearticles.com/?Top-Five:-Survival-Food&id=5033883 according to this article the top five foods should be:

Here are five major food groups that can help you survive while awaiting rescue operations to find you:

1 – Meats and proteins must be priority on your list. There is no issue with spoiling since these foods are now canned. Make sure to check the expiration dates. The later the expiration dates, the better.

You can also store up on loads of beef jerky. Unlike other cold cuts, this does not require refrigeration and are vacuum sealed for longer shelf life. You can also store meat items that need to be cooked but be sure to cook it first before deciding on consuming the canned products. For these types of food that require cooking, you need to have a burner or any portable heating device.

2 – Energy bars, mixed nuts, beans and peanut butter are good sources of protein. Be sure to store some of these too.

3 – Fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of carbohydrates and other vitamins and minerals that you will need for survival. Canned fruits such as peaches, oranges and pineapples are good fruit choices and have long shelf lives. You can also store dried fruits. Aside from the fact that it can be eaten alone, they have high carbohydrate content and can be kept for six to nine months.

4 – Whole grains such as crackers, bread sticks, rice and cereals are good choices for survival foods. You may also want to consider storing an amount of brown rice because of the extra fiber that it contains and the B vitamins that it supplies the body. Unfortunately it doesn’t last longer than white rice so if you’re looking for whole grains that have a variety of flavors, store granola bars.

5 – Water is the most essential fluid to have. Make sure that there’s enough supply of bottled water that you can drink. Each person shall have a gallon’s share of water per day in order to avoid shortage. Separate drinking water from water that will be used for cleaning and hygiene purposes. Aside from water, fruit juices, coffee, powdered milk and tea must also be stored. Other food items include candy bars, chewing gums, condiments specifically salt to preserve foods and pepper to add flavour to your main meals, honey and other types of sweeteners. These food types can help divert your palate from the usual taste that you might grow tired of while waiting to be found by rescue operations.

I never realized that there were so many articles on this subject till I started this posting wow…

http://www.livestrong.com/article/371448-5-basic-food-ingredients-for-survival/

fotolia_3258227_XS

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing foods for your survival kit. Survival foods should be high in energy, easy to transport, require no refrigeration or cooking, and most importantly, provide necessary nutrients. Whether you’re packing survival foods for a hike, camping trip or your home emergency disaster kit, there are a few staples you should include.

Fats

One of the best ingredients for survival is fat. Fats are good for energy, and they also provide insulation under the skin from extreme temperatures. Fat provides needed energy — gram for gram, fat provides more energy than carbohydrates. Good portable sources of fat include sardines, peanut butter, nuts, dried coconut and certain food bars, such as Organic Raw Omega-3 food bar, which contains 13 grams of healthy fat.

Carbohydrates

The body gets energy from carbs by breaking them down into glucose to use for fuel. In most survival situations, you burn more calories and reach exhaustion faster than normal. Carbohydrates provide readily accessible fuel for physical performance. Quick and easy sources of carbs include instant oatmeal, fruits and granola bars.

Protein

Protein is a very important nutrient for survival, but not just protein, but complete proteins, which contain all the essential amino acids — the building blocks of protein. Protein is needed to repair muscle tissue; the more active you are, as in a survival situation, the more protein you will need. Quick and easy protein sources include canned tuna, dehydrated meats, nuts and pemmican, a dried, concentrated mixture of protein and fat.

Water and Electrolytes

Water is one of the most important ingredients for survival; you can go weeks without food, but only a day or so without water. But drinking plain water, especially in extreme temperatures in which you might perspire more, can cause an electrolyte imbalance. Symptoms of an imbalance or deficiency include drowsiness, weakness, nausea, confusion and disorientation. Electrolytes help minimize these symptoms and prevent muscle cramps. Gatorade is a common choice, but takes up space in your survival kit or backpack. However, electrolyte tablets are very compact and easy to transport.

New Site: Fort Campbell, KY, Clarksville, TN, and Hopkinsville, KY, Buy, Sell, Tradehttp://www.facebook.com/Eman.The.Tupperware.Man#!/groups/548935008468517/

Fort Campbell, Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Buy, Sell, Trade

  • Promote your business / self here and let people find your businesses and services all togetherI made this group for people at Fort Campbell, Clarksville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY area to BUY SELL and TRADE or even give away items…

I will not do like some other local sites do, and have my item always prominently posted at the top. (Last Person to Post) gets top spot.

I see a lot of other local groups did not include Hop town, well we did.

Not a lot of rules just use common sense, be courteous, no illegal items, no profanity. This is a family site.

If you have tons of items you want to list, try putting them into file/album, and posting them that way, I know not every person has that capability, but try.

Nothing turns a person off than a whole page of item, with your profile picture on them.

Try to post your business / items once a day, and bump the next day, this way viewers can quickly go through this site, without seeing the same items again and again.

For Businesses, MLM and Entrepreneurs, I ask you post your item once a day and then bump it in 24 hours. No need to flood the site with a whole page of whatever you’re selling, it’s a turn off when people see that.

That’s it for now. If anyone has any suggestions, please contact me.

    Thank You, and have fun…

    Emmanuel
