Today is Boob Pancake Day

Yes we make jokes about our Mammograms and they actually used to feel like the garage door had closed down on them.  Now it is a must have yearly if you really would like to be a woman who cares about your body.  I am heading to get my yearly mammogram and yes I blog about it to remind women around the world to schedule theirs.  It might just save your life.

I schedule my GYN exam and my yearly physical within the same week of each other each year so that I do not forget.  Then I schedule my Mammogram at my yearly physical to get my referral.  That way once a year my body has been through the microscope and I am finished and do not have to worry for another year.

May 2011 Cancer Again

Have you made your appointment?  Get on the phone.  It may save your life.

The Big Day Arrived

Sunday was a really big day in our home.  My hubby had turned 60 on Saturday.

He had decided to be baptised.  We also became members of our local church.1452219_10152223045671395_3784083762256285537_n 10500575_10152223045776395_1105077418240876326_n 10441946_10152223045926395_6668474144332243260_n 10377082_10203067400379045_9040410826595887509_n 10458751_10203062499016514_8189643735771160991_n 10501974_10203061794718907_6800928585933687816_n

Thank you for traveling through our day…we had a huge picnic that was a wonderful success thanks to the wonderful women from Oakwood Freewill Baptist Church and all of their help.   There was so much food that every table was full.  Special thanks to Pastor James for the Baptisim and making such a difference in my hubby’s life.  Also a special shout out to hubby’s son Christopher Green who helped in the kitchen as well as being the grill master for the day.

Interesting Book I Am Reading

During Sunday School Class, the topic of a book came up that sounded very intriging.

Lee Strobel

Lee Strobel (www.LeeStrobel.com), with a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School, was the award-winning legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and a spiritual skeptic until 1981. His books include four Gold Medallion winners and the 2005 Christian Book of the Year (coauthored with Garry Poole). He and his wife live in Colorado.

First of all to find out that he was an atheist when he first began was a surprise to me.  He only began to investigate due to his wife becoming a Christian.  His book has become a movie if you are not patient enough to read a book so look to see if it is available in DVD in your area.

Sorry I am not giving away about the book….read it for yourself and I will say that you will be glad that you did.  Just do not expect to get much done around the house as it is one of those can’t put it down books once you start to read it.

Writing 101: Day 3 Celebrate three songs that are significant to you

writing-101-june-2014-class-badge-2The first song that comes to my mind would be The Easter Song.  Even though the song is appropriate for any time of the year.

This song is so uplifting to me and will put me in such a peaceful place when I am feeling stress.  It returns me to a great place in my mind.
It allows me to collect my thoughts and heal myself from any problems that might have come in to make me feel like the walls are crushing in on me.
By the end of the song I am ready to go out and begin again.

The second song that comes to mind today is Leonard Cohen singing

Hallelujah

Now perhaps this would this put most of you to sleep by now by for me it is an inspiration.  Iam now inspired to carry on this story and my day.
I have listened to these songs right along with you while I was writing this piece.  If it was not raining outside I would be out there doing all kinds of yard work.
Hopefully our rainy season will end soon so that the remainder of the yard work can get completed.

My last choice for the day comes from Josh Groban You Raise Me Up

I hope that this video also will also raise you up to make you want to go forward and do whatever you were not sure that you could do.  May it help you to find
that inner strength that you have been looking for in your life.

May you feel like you are blessed today and that it will be a good day no matter what obsticles lie ahead.  Face them one at a time.  Pray in between for the strength to carry on.  You can do it.

May today be the first day of the rest of your life.

Have a Blessed Day,

Tammye Honey

Spreading The Word To Please Vote

My neighbor is very supportive of his son.  I have had many posts on my blogs about the family previously if you search through my two years of blogging and you come across anything to do with MikeFest.  They are the founders of that program.

Their son is in a group that is called Eye Tooth.  This band plays not only locally but across the state of Tennessee.  They have been in a competition recently and have required people to vote for them.

Right now their standings are looking rather good.

I have watched this young man grow up and be a part of not only this band but also this community.  He is a good role model for our youth and should be supported.

Please take the time to vote for Eye Tooth.

Daily Prompt: Connecting the Dots Each Day

Daily Prompt: Connect the Dots

Scour the news for an entirely uninteresting story.
Consider how it connects to your life.
Write about that.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us a CONNECTION.

I am going to state ahead of time that I will possible ruffle a few feathers with this article.
This is fine since comments are welcome of all opinions.

I chose to write about PTSD and it’s effects on lives of the family members of those who have it.
It is not just the person who has it who suffers from this.  The research is so in the dark for a cure.

Despite being told by a psychiatrist not to watch the Military Channel someone with PTSD can be drawn to it like flys to honey.

The path to recover is a long and slow path with a lot of work for the individual and the family.

Patience is the key.  Some days it feels as if alzheimer’s disease has kicked in or a bad case of “deja vous”  as the day progresses the little triggers kick in.

Night time is worse in our home and the dream medication will work some nights and other nights it is as if it were never taken.  Not only does the person relive the encounter, the spouse also spends the evening having the same experience.  This makes for a very long night and very little restful sleep.

To put the day back into prospective the next morning is always very interesting.  Bringing the subject back to the current day (which I have done throughout the night at times also) is sometimes easier after a cup of coffee.

My prayer is that they find a real cure for it rather than give a combination of pills that work as a “cocktail”.
I have found my spouse on the floor from these wonderful combinations as the sudden drop in blood pressure causes the body to drop where the subject is.

This is dangerous.  After playing russian roulette with the various medications, being off from the majority of them has been the only answer.

Hense, the suffering continues.  The good news is that only the family is the ones who are suffering since the subject really does not realize what is happening most of the time.
Going to a grocery store and trying to go down an isle does not seem like a big deal unless you are a person with PTSD.  The problem is that the family sometimes forgets this and turns to find the subject missing.  They are left standing in the isle talking to themself as they turn to find the subject has disappeared.  Frustration has just set in for everyone.  Both the subject who has had an episode and the family member who now has to stop and begin a quest to find the subject.  What started out as a simple few object shopping list trip has now become a few hours.
There are other days that the trip goes very smoothly and rapidly as one would normally plan and life is awesome.  The amazing part of PTSD is that there are no pre indicators.  It is not like a migraine where you get the warning signs.

My answer to it all is simply…Tomorrow is truly another day.

Would love to hear from my readers about how you feel about this.

Weekly Writing Challenge: How I Have Been Moved By Music

Weekly Writing Challenge: Moved by Music

  • A song that triggers a memory.
  • A song that symbolizes a person, a place, or past relationship.
  • A song that represents you — that you could consider as your “intro music.”
  • Song lyrics that speak to you.
  • Lyrics that inspire you to write a short story or other musings.
  • Your favorite song — and why.
  • A musician, band, composer, etc. whose music has affected or changed you.
  • Commentary on a musician, band, or genre.
  • An album review.

Many songs have moved me in my life  and have stirred a lot of emotions.  At my age, they would fill the pages if I were to list them all. Two of the most difficult videos that I have ever helped to produce left me crying with every scene and I still get teary eyed each time that I view them. I only had a personal connection with one, that was a family who reaches out to help others in so many ways after losing their own son.  It is their way of giving back.  The video was a tribute to them.

The other was a tribute to my husband’s brother and several of his friends who have passed away.  The entire time this video was being made I cried with each frame that I added.  The completion was a success and not only made my hubby happy, it also made his family very proud.
For songs that inspire me and keep me motivated…
Okay, so I am a romantic sap at heart…
So what inspires and moves you?  I would love to hear… feel free to respond with a video response.
Waiting to hear from you…
