Daily Prompt: Food Good For The Soul

CIMG0114

Daily Prompt: Food for the Soul (and the Stomach)

by michelle w. on November 11, 2013

Tell us about your favorite meal, either to eat or to prepare.
Does it just taste great, or does it have other associations?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us FOOD.

In our home I cook from scratch for almost every meal that we have.
I use corn free products and shop at our local Korean Market to purchase items such as Rice Flour or Potato Starch, Rice Starch and Panko.

My Italian Bread Crumbs have to start with the Panko and then add my own Italian Spices.
Some we actually grow on our window sill in Winter months.

Our treat is when we can make a meal with guests visiting and then make a video while making the meal.

It not only creates a memory that will last, inspires our creative juices and makes the meal more interesting.

To have fun, and enjoy a nutritious meal with friends…

Who could ask for anything more.

Special shout out to our Veterans today and their Spouses… Thank you for your service to our Country!

Daily Prompt: Popping A Pill Instead Of Eating?

Daily Prompt: Red Pill, Blue Pill

If you could get all the nutrition you needed in a day with a pill — no worrying about what to eat, no food preparation — would you do it?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us NOURISHMENT.

I have days where this would absolutely be ideal.  It would grow tiresome though as I do love to cook.
I love spending time in my kitchen and the food preparation  is partially what it is all about.
If I popped a pill that would mean that there would never be any more food videos.

That would make me sad.

I did not realize that I had made six videos already till I went to put them on here.

I have actually been tempted to make another one lately.
I just have not found the recipe that sparks me to do it.

What recipe would you like to see made so that you would learn how to make it fast and easily?

Perhaps your responses will spark my next video…all comments will be considered.

If you have a favorite recipe that you would like to be made into a video just send it to my email.

Road Trip A-Z Challenge Day 12

Post A-to-Z Road Trip [2013]

http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/2013/05/want-to-join-us-for-ultimate-road-trip.html

Hard to believe that our journey has brought us into day 12 already.  Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I really do hope that you have enjoyed the journey so far.

Lets stop first and see what snack our first visit is preparing so that we can at least eat as we travel.

http://rantingchef.com/author/rantingchef/ When someone is not guest blogging or he is not doing a competition, he is reviewing products for the kitchen here.  This was one of the first blogs that I began to follow.  I have even had the privilege to be able to be a guest blogger this past fall.  It was such fun.

Today he is whipping up with a tutorial a dish of http://rantingchef.com/2013/05/19/so-much-for-cooking-classes/

Green Beans with Caramelized Onions and Almonds

Now that we have our food lets travel on to our next stop:

http://fingerprintwriting.wordpress.com/

Totally pack a bag lunch before you visit this site as you are really going to be there for a while.  Elaine writes about her life and happenings in it that are real.  You are aware from the first line in each article that they are written from the heart and genuine.  I only hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Next stop since you are back now:

http://vosperdruiter.wordpress.com/ Getting a view from a Pastor of a Church, now I really hope that perhaps you at least packed a snack or two and perhaps a second bag lunch.  There is also a lot of great reading here.

Our next stop is at http://herapereira.com/ Who not only has poetry and several interesting blogs of her own but a few reblogs of interest.

Our last stop of the day since I really do need to get back to my house guest and stop being rude is:

http://womenwhothinktoomuch.wordpress.com/ If that site does not keep you busy till tomorrow, nothing will.    She has categories with subcategories that I think have subcategories. LOL

She is one busy gal.

Till tomorrow signing out,

Tammye Honey

Daily Prompt: Going List-Y

Daily Prompt: The Satisfaction of a List

Who doesn’t love a list? So write one! Top five slices of pizza in your town, ten reasons disco will never die, the three secrets to happiness — go silly or go deep, just go list-y.

lists

Why do we make lists?  What type of lists do we make?  Are they to keep us organized, help us to remember or just something to doodle when in a meeting?

I decided to explore the different types of lists that people make.  Here are my findings.

The Ever Famous Summer Bucket List…(Kids are out of school for break, have limited time to get it done in short time)

bucket list

Then I began to think about what do we use list for besides…

wine list on menu

Menus in Restaurants

top ten spices eating right listReading articles

schedule

Making Appointments

party guest list

Having a party or wedding

notebook lists

Taking notes or inventory

cleaning list

Cleaning Lists

wish

Hmmm

store joke

grocery

We make this so we do not impulse shop

do it

Ah the Honey Do List…

list

Now it is time for me to make my list like the prompt said…

I need to decide which list to start with first…
Perhaps I need a list for my lists
Should they all be neatly lined on the fridge?
Do I line them up by importance?
What deems the list more important?
My fridge has a Honey Do and Grocery…
Both are forgotten by hubby…
If I could eat in a corn free restaurant, I would love a menu
I don’t drink, so I do not need a wine list.
I am a little old to start a bucket list
Today is day off from A-Z Challenge
Tomorrow I do the Letter M
That really is a list of sorts, yet broken down by day
It does not feel like a list that is in a list.
I guess you could easily say that my lists have lists.

Here are what some other Daily Prompt Writers had to say:

  1. Poem by Caro Ness dedicated to my Blog | Inside My Glitching Mind

Daily Prompt: Pressing On to Share The Love

pad2013 (1)

Daily Prompt: Press It

Give some love to three blog posts you’ve read and loved in the past week, and tell us why they’re worth reading.

The very first one that comes to mind is a post by a regular that I read and it was really a great Poem that she wrote.

http://theseeker57.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/on-children-april-2013-monthly-peace/

The poem was very touching, well written and the message was one that was well worth a reblog.

The next one that comes to mind is a mom who shows her love of children through her blog…every step of the way.  She also shows her love of crafts on the blog.  Her latest blog was on her second child’s first hair cut.  http://momoftwosalums.com/2013/04/10/my-baby-boy-had-his-first-haircut/
Through her writings, you can tell her overflowing love of her family.

The next must read is going to two bloggers actually because when I am hungry, I always go to these two sites to see what they or their guest bloggers are cooking for the day.  They never disappoint me and always have something great to offer:

http://rantingchef.com/author/rantingchef/  When he is not giving you a great recipe he is giving you a diced competition of four great blogging chefs who are competing with a recipe.

http://maggiesonebuttkitchen.com This gal is all about cooking and blogs or has guest blogs daily about food.

So that is my recommendations for the day…I have many more on my wall if you check that I actually recommend daily as I read them.

Now I am off to my A-Z challenge…I am on the Letter J so I am still going strong.

Homemade Dryer Sheets

I have heard so much about these and so many people are using the Tupperware containers to store them in that we can’t keep them in stock.  They are using the container with a neat lift out center to keep the liquid in the bottom for reuse.  I found a blog on another site with another great way to recycle flannel shirts and make them.

Homemade Dryer Sheets // Clean Living

I’ve heard from multiple friends how I should start creating my own laundry detergent (which trust me, it’s coming in the near future of clean living), but I hadn’t heard of anyone creating their own dryer sheets, so I looked to my good ole pal, Google, for some tricks and tips. I came to find, much like a lot of clean living recipes, that it’s easy as pie. I was definitely skeptical with the main ingredient being vinegar (cause we all know that’s a lovely smell..), but I was so happy with the result. Here’s how it’s done:
Supplies:
 Flannel fabric
1/2 cup vinegar
15 drops essential oil
Combine the vinegar and essential oil (I used lavender) into a small bowl and mix well. Next, cut the flannel into small 5×5 inch squares. Soak each square in the liquid mix, and lay them out to dry on an old towel. Once they have dried, store them in a sealed container. The vinegar smell will be strong at first, but once it’s gone through the dryer cycle the harsh odor will disappear and leave a fresh, clean scent. What I love about this is how soft the lavender scent is, not overwhelming in the slightest. Plus, the flannel is recyclable, so you’re doing mother nature a favor, as well your wallet. Sometimes, we all win. I’m okay with that.

Daily Prompt: Comedy of Errors Making Pasta

Daily Prompt: Comedy of Errors (and bonus assignment!)

by michelle w. on February 27, 2013

Murphy’s Law says, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Write about a time everything did — fiction encouraged here, too!

Bonus assignment: do you keep a notebook next to your bed? Good. Tomorrow morning, jot down the first thought you have upon waking, whether or not it’s coherent.

The one and only time that we have tried to make pasta, I forgot what pasta was all about the first time through and tried to make it with Gluten Free Flour.

Nice option to baking

Nice option to baking but not pasta making

The second time of trying we used regular flour and used a YouTube Video…I think he had a few too many glasses of wine… the pasta was way too thin and had holes.

The third attempt got us as far as making the dough from a recipe that my hubby’s friend gave him.  By then, my kitchen looked like a tornado had gone through it and the mess was incredible.

4354413748136Pdrying rackattachments ravioliclock tickingIt was late at night and we were both exhausted… I ended up just doing dishes with hubby’s assistance and going straight to bed.  Tossing the dough into the trash.

Perhaps another day I will try again…when I am feeling brave.

Perhaps I might even consider just leaving it to Barilla

Daily Prompt B+: What I did last Weekend?

Daily Prompt: B+

by michelle w. on February 23, 2013

Write about what you did last weekend as though you’re a music critic reviewing a new album.

Prelude:  Has a woman sitting at her desk asking herself what she really did last weekend.  It was only one week ago.

Track One:

Hubby goes to grocery store on post and has a panic attack before he finishes grocery list and hurries home with ribs (not on list) and half of the grocery list.  Not a great track here.  No happy dancing here.

Track Two:

Wife slowly puts away few groceries and finishes cleaning the house..Not an exciting track here at all.

Track Three:

Time to feed the animals again.  They eat three times a day in small portions. This track is a bit better.  At least a little better dancing.

Track Four:

Time to blog of course since Daily Prompt never takes a break.  This is definitely a better dance track while working.

Track Five:

This track is all about getting in a shipment from Tupperware and Scentsy that I had to inventory and stamp catalogs.  Not very exciting but very necessary since we were out of catalogs and only had Canadian Catalogs no USA ones. This track had a bonus track with it.

Track Six:

This is where Tammye Honey decided that she was hungry and made dinner.  A simple track but easy to follow.

Track Seven:

Short track of time to do the dishes.  Only wish I had a dishwasher.

Track Eight:

Time to relax and watch some tv while crocheting a light evening of quiet time snuggled in the bed with two dogs and a cat.

Hope this leaves you in a relaxed mode to be able to continue and read what other Daily Prompt Writers had to say on this subject:

Daily Prompt: My Most Satisfying Meal

Daily Prompt: Seconds!

by michelle w. on February 22, 2013

Describe the most satisfying meal you’ve ever eaten in glorious detail.

This was a simple and easy dish to prepare I have even included where to find the recipe.

http://tammyehoney.wordpress.com/2012/05/18/bowties-and-shrimp-in-spinach-pesto-made-easy/

I have made this recipe several times with various fish and meats as substitutes for the shrimp and each time it is perfect.

I find my mouth watering as it is cooking.  I am so glad that it is a fast dish to make as I have a huge bowl of it right away.

There is something about this dish that calls you from the refrigerator and says “Come and get more”

Calendar and Items Clipped

I try to resist yet the sound of the dish keeps calling my name.  I have to stop what I am doing and go get another plate of it and warm it in the microwave and eat till I feel like I am going to burst.

I have to admit this is one dish that has this power over me.  There are not many dishes that can do this to me and make my mouth water just thinking about it.  This one does.

I can almost hear you thinking, there is nothing special about this dish, once you have eaten it you will think differently.

Thank you for reading and happy eating…

What is your favorite meal that makes you go back for seconds and makes you drool?  Would love to hear about it…

Let me know….
