Daily Prompt: Do Opposite When You Do All Three?

Daily Prompt: Opposite Day

If you normally write non-fiction, post a photo. If you normally post images, write fiction. If you normally write fiction, write a poem. If you normally write poetry, draw a picture. (New) photographers, artists, poets: show us OPPOSITE.

I have been known to write a poem or two.
Sometimes happy, sometimes blue.
Fictional stories thrown in, a few.
A scattered picture of me and you.

Today’s prompt came as a surprise.
What would I do here, compromise?
I could always write a pack of lies.
That would finish me off, my own demise.

I thought of a story of fiction to write.
A life of children to bring to light.
Of how love being shown is always right.
Saying I love you last thing at night.

To give a small hug and say I love you.
Does not take blood, does not cost too.
To find it hard to say and to show is true.
To turn away from God is the last thing to do.

If you have the love of God in your heart.
The family stays together and never apart.
The light of his love will shine, strong like a spark.
Your words will ring true, sung like a lark.

A simple prayer to those who have lost their way.
Please listen to what I have to say.
God did not abandon you or not hear your prayer, as you say.
He just answered it slowly in a different way.

When we lose a loved one so close and so dear.
Perhaps backs are turned from God from fear.
If we look at it from fresh eyes it may be clear.
The suffering spared, had they stayed here.

To see a machine that is all that gives one life.
Be it a father, sister, brother or wife.
If the pain and suffering would be like a cut from a knife.
Perhaps God’s plan was to spare that one’s suffering strife.

We must get on and cherish those near.
They could be gone in a flash or hurt severe.
Say the words today that make them dear.
Don’t hold back from anger or fear.

Anger will rob you from life’s golden treasures.
Hope will make it grow by leaps and measures.
Love will make it strong and bring you pleasures.
Life is too short, so grow angel feathers.

So find you smile and love your children as well.
It will cleanse your heart and will break the spell.
Children learn what they see and what is on the shell.
By your example is what their life will tell.

We teach hate with cruel words, love is shown by doing.
If the love is not seen, then resentment comes spewing.
A simple fix with prayer is the answer of cueing.
To turn back to God and allow his love to start viewing.

Daily Prompt: Inspiration

Daily Prompt: Earworm

Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us INSPIRATION.

If you want sunshine in your day you have to keep a happy attitude and think happy thoughts.

To bring a dark cloud to surround you will only keep the storm.

Here is some sunshine use it wisely.

Be happy and dwell on what makes life great.

Everything could be gone in a flash.

Take a quick look around and be thankful for what you have.

A Call From My Hubby’s Nephew

My hubby has a special nephew.
He can be a bit overwhelming at times.
He is now in his thirties.  He lives with his mom and grandparents.
My hubby says that I am funny when I deal with him.
I insist that he uses respect.
His family says that he can’t remember from day to day.
I disagree.
It is funny that he can now remember that when I answer the phone, the only way he can speak with his uncle is to call him by Uncle, not his first name.
When I answer, he knows that if he does not, he will not talk to him.

Today he called with the request for me to look up a word and give him the definition.
The word was does.
Forty five minutes later, I hung up the telephone knowing that he finally understood the meaning.

clock ticking

I took the time with him, using the word in sentences.
I also got across the point of various tenses, pronouns and verbs associated that were confusing him.
I did not have to do this.
I could have just hung up the phone after I told him his uncle was sleeping.

phone

It did not take away from my day at all to spend the 45 minutes with him.
He was happy when he hung up.
He was no longer aggrivated like he had been when he first called.
I never asked why he needed to know.
I decided that the can of worms that had brought on the frustration just needed to be calmed.

By his being satisfied with the answer, his day will now be better.
He will have a calmer day.

smiley face
In turn, so will the others who live with him.
Why this could not have been done on his end remains a mystery.

critical eye
Perhaps a dictionary for Christmas will be a nice gift.

Daily Prompt: Growing Up

Daily Prompt: The Natural World

Describe your first memorable experience exploring and spending time in nature.
Were you in awe?
Or were you not impressed?
Would you rather spend time in the forest or the city?

Photographers, artists, and poets: show us NATURE.

When I was a child growing up times were so different from now.
It was before the riots in Detroit started back in 1968.
A time when we could go to the local field at the end of the block.
A time when the entire neighborhood of children could gather at the playground and play all day.
The parents stayed home and did their chores.

Each child was called home by a certain whistle.
We knew to come when called or there would be consequences.

When I was older after 68′ I had moved to the country in Upstate New York.
I would spend my Summers either alone under the apple trees reading or working on a neighbors farm.

Although I missed my friends from growing up, I began to enjoy the solitude of being alone with nature.

Going Back In Time

Where shall I start?  Perhaps the first photo that hubby’s children saw of me announcing our recent marriage would be a great place.

Tammye's Expecting Due in July...

Daily Prompt: My Normal Is Not Everyone’s Normal

Daily Prompt: The Normal

Is being “normal” — whatever that means to you — a good thing, or a bad thing?
Neither?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us EVERYDAY.

Each person is unique.  They all have a set pattern to their life.  This is an everyday occurrence and what is known as a “Normal Routine”.
My “Normal Routine” is different that a family that has a baby, or several children to get to school, or a Professional Couple who travel to work each day.

Here are some words from Dr. Seuss:

Tossing This To My Readers…Is This Fair?

Principal issues statement after sending Calgary boy who tackled knife-wielder home

Principal issues statement after sending Calgary boy who tackled knife-wielder home

BRIAR WAS PUNISHED AT HIS SCHOOL, SIR JOHN A. MACDONALD FOR STEPPING IN A AND HELPING ANOTHER STUDENT FROM BEING STABBED TUESDAY MORNING

Credits: DARREN MAKOWICHUK/QMI AGENCY

CALGARY — The principal of a Calgary school where one student broke up a fight that could’ve turned into a stabbing has made a statement to parents.

On May 28, Briar MacLean, 13, a Grade 7 student at Sir John A. Macdonald school, opted for action instead of running in search of a teacher when a student pulled a knife during a fight.

After tackling the student, MacLean was sent to the school office, then home.

His mom, Leah O’Donnell, took exception to her boy being made to feel like he was in trouble, and QMI Agency readers shared that sentiment.

The school and Calgary Board of Education didn’t comment until Friday, in a letter to parents on the school’s website.

“The student who reportedly intervened was asked to remain in the office to explain what happened but was in no way disciplined,” school principal Michael Bester wrote.

“Two students were suspended as a result of their behaviour in this incident.

“It is not recommended that students intervene in incidents such as this to ensure their own safety. There was a teacher nearby who could have been asked to assist before the third student became involved.”

O’Donnell maintained MacLean was sternly lectured for “playing the hero.”

O’Donnell is still proud of her boy’s decision to step in. Weapon or no weapon, assault is assault, she said.

“If someone were punching me in the face, I’d want somebody to stop them,” she said.

I toss this out to my readers to see what your opinion of this situation is.  Do you feel that this was handled correctly?
Did the student step over his bounds?
Should he have been suspended for his actions due to the circumstances of his reactions?
Would love to hear your reactions so leave me a comment.
