Daily Prompt: Going List-Y

Daily Prompt: The Satisfaction of a List

Who doesn’t love a list? So write one! Top five slices of pizza in your town, ten reasons disco will never die, the three secrets to happiness — go silly or go deep, just go list-y.

lists

Why do we make lists?  What type of lists do we make?  Are they to keep us organized, help us to remember or just something to doodle when in a meeting?

I decided to explore the different types of lists that people make.  Here are my findings.

The Ever Famous Summer Bucket List…(Kids are out of school for break, have limited time to get it done in short time)

bucket list

Then I began to think about what do we use list for besides…

wine list on menu

Menus in Restaurants

top ten spices eating right listReading articles

schedule

Making Appointments

party guest list

Having a party or wedding

notebook lists

Taking notes or inventory

cleaning list

Ah the Honey Do List…

list

Now it is time for me to make my list like the prompt said…

I need to decide which list to start with first…
Perhaps I need a list for my lists
Should they all be neatly lined on the fridge?
Do I line them up by importance?
What deems the list more important?
My fridge has a Honey Do and Grocery…
Both are forgotten by hubby…
If I could eat in a corn free restaurant, I would love a menu
I don’t drink, so I do not need a wine list.
I am a little old to start a bucket list
Today is day off from A-Z Challenge
Tomorrow I do the Letter M
That really is a list of sorts, yet broken down by day
It does not feel like a list that is in a list.
I guess you could easily say that my lists have lists.

Daily Prompt: Organizations I Chose To Be Beneficiaries

Daily Prompt: Charitable

You’ve inherited $5 million, with instructions that you must give it all away — but you can choose any organizations you like to be the beneficiaries. Where does the money go?

th

Wow with that amount of money it was a tough question.

1. Mike Fest 2013  (Would set it up so each year a recipient would receive a set amount).  This year is Wounded Warrior Sgt. Keith Hale.

http://layedbacklife.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/daily-prompt-mikefest-history-and-today/

2. Paws with a Cause Local Chapter Max’s Hope

http://layedbacklife.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/give-a-shout-out-to-our-local-organization/

The other charities I would have to think about for a bit and ponder.  My reason for this is that I have a problem with Administrative fees.  With these two that I have chosen, the money goes directly to the cause at hand for what is intended.

Perhaps if I just split between the two that would be enough to keep MikeFest and Max’s Hope going for years to come.

Daily Prompt B+: What I did last Weekend?

Daily Prompt: B+

by michelle w. on February 23, 2013

Write about what you did last weekend as though you’re a music critic reviewing a new album.

Prelude:  Has a woman sitting at her desk asking herself what she really did last weekend.  It was only one week ago.

Track One:

Hubby goes to grocery store on post and has a panic attack before he finishes grocery list and hurries home with ribs (not on list) and half of the grocery list.  Not a great track here.  No happy dancing here.

Track Two:

Wife slowly puts away few groceries and finishes cleaning the house..Not an exciting track here at all.

Track Three:

Time to feed the animals again.  They eat three times a day in small portions. This track is a bit better.  At least a little better dancing.

Track Four:

Time to blog of course since Daily Prompt never takes a break.  This is definitely a better dance track while working.

Track Five:

This track is all about getting in a shipment from Tupperware and Scentsy that I had to inventory and stamp catalogs.  Not very exciting but very necessary since we were out of catalogs and only had Canadian Catalogs no USA ones. This track had a bonus track with it.

Track Six:

This is where Tammye Honey decided that she was hungry and made dinner.  A simple track but easy to follow.

Track Seven:

Short track of time to do the dishes.  Only wish I had a dishwasher.

Track Eight:

Time to relax and watch some tv while crocheting a light evening of quiet time snuggled in the bed with two dogs and a cat.

Hope this leaves you in a relaxed mode to be able to continue and read what other Daily Prompt Writers had to say on this subject:

Daily Prompt: What would I reinvent?

Daily Prompt: Undo

by michelle w. on February 21, 2013

If you could un-invent something, what would it be? Discuss why, potential repercussions, or a possible alternative.

Foods and medications with corn syrup additives , corn starch or modified food starch.  I would use the corn to produce gasoline.  The alternatives to corn in foods would be rice or potato starch or syrup.  There would be fewer allergies in the world and gasoline would be cheaper to make and purchase.

Can't wait to try

Can’t wait to try

Nice option to baking

Nice option to baking

Potential repercussions the nations who produce the petroleum that we are purchasing from would hate us more than they do already.

cars

By relying on our own corn for fuel, we might get out of debt.  What would our Government have to fight over.  Oh I forgot, there is still the medical issues and the gun control of the thieves who steal guns then commit crimes.  That alone should be enough to keep them busy after they finish fighting over the minimum wage hike.

pouring rain

Will the trickle down theory affect our prices of production of goods and the shipping of the goods to stores?  Will the increase in that minimum wage be eaten away by the increases seen in the cost of living?

ups truck

Perhaps if we went back to the barter system for a lot of things that we need in life things would become easier and more cost effective.

Food for thought.  What are your thoughts on this?  What would you reinvent?

Daily Prompt: Something I know I should do yet will not

Daily Prompt: Shoulda Woulda Coulda

by michelle w. on February 13, 2013

Tell us about something you know you should do . . . but don’t.

My Kitchen needs a really bad make over.  The cabinets are solid wood so I would like to reuse them in the make over.  With all of the rain we have had and are having, it would be impossible to take them down and redo them outside.  I do not want the mess in the house to redo them in here.  Especially since right now I can’t open windows for ventilation.

To redo the position of the kitchen to give me more counter space would change the new flooring that we put in around the existing pattern.

Instead of painting

Instead of painting

Lack of funding is my other issue.  After the tornado and storm damage, we have the roof fixed and the apple tree removed.  That is all of the repairs we have been able to do so far.

This project is on a back burner for a while and I am doing what I can with what I have.

What is going on with your life that you should be doing and will wait or will not be doing?

Would love to hear.

Daily Prompt: Right to Health Or Is It?

Daily Prompt: Right to Health

by michelle w. on February 7, 2013

Is access to medical care something that governments should provide, or is it better left to the private sector? Are there drawbacks to your choice?

This is a difficult question to answer as I have been in the private sector of life.  Having been self employed, I can understand the hardships suffered by a small business that does not have employees that is struggling to make ends met.  Having the government step in and tell you that you must have a medical care plan added to your life that you do not have the added money for in your budget can feel overwhelming.

The other side of the coin on this is having one surgery.  This could set a family back for years to come with bills that they would never have saved for.

Working for an employer who provides medical care coverage sometimes is worth it’s weight in gold.  Those jobs are becoming rare in our society.  Due to the high cost of medical care.

I can understand the need that our government feels to step in and want to take control over the medical care needs.  However, the way that some politicians have gone about it has left a bad taste in a lot of voters mouths.

If we were to look at Socialized medicine in other countries and how it is working there, perhaps a fresh view of the situation would stumble upon our feet.  This would also not be accepted with a popular vote, however.  This also has it’s draw backs.

People do not realize in this country that we already have a form of socialized medicine with the military and the VA Hospitals.  The military only see Military Doctors.  They get their medications on post.  They sit and wait to be seen and sit and wait for their medications because the price is right.  The doctors are highly trained.  Why not take advantage of this right to be seen.

Even being retired, they still have the right to be seen.  Compared to going out into private sector where the copay would be as much as $50.00 twice a month for a prescription.  The choice on a fixed income becomes simple.  The wait is long but pays off in the end.

I am on the fence with this decision.  It is different for each family.  To say that someone has to do something might make their situation worse, not better.

Daily Prompt: Choose Your Adventure Ending

Daily Prompt: Choose Your Adventure

by michelle w. on February 6, 2013

Write a story or post with an open ending, and let your readers invent the conclusion.

Thanks for the great idea, warturoadam77p!

Today has truly been an adventure.  As she had never gone on a honeymoon with her first marriage, she had always dreamed of going to the Bahama Islands.  Her children had heard her say so many times growing up that on her 30th birthday that was going to be her birthday present to herself.

Following a rather smooth divorce and a lot of years alone with her daughters away at school, she found herself again remarried and with no honeymoon. They had wanted to save up for the items in the house that they needed to start a fresh marriage and the honeymoon became a microwave, pots and pans and other household items.

Looking back now at that time, it seemed that it had been the wiser decision after all.  Today her hubby had walked in and announced that for their 25 wedding anniversary which was coming up in two weeks she had a choice to make.

Did she want to go to the Bahama Islands that her children had suggested, or did she want to go to Costa Rica.

That was the one thing that she had talked about since they had met.  She had talked about the Housekeeper that her daughter had employed while she lived with her daughter for four years. During that time, she had learned about the culture in Costa Rica, the lifestyle and they ways of the country.  This had become a new option in her life and hearing about the cost of living there had made it all that more enticing to her.

Now she was faced with a difficult decision as she looked at the travel brochures that laid scattered across her bed.  The Bahama Islands or Costa Rica, which would she choose.  Her heart tugging in two directions, she was faced with a difficult decision.  Her hubby would be home that night anticipating a decision.

All day she had walked past her bed, stopping to read a little then walking away.  The thoughts were swirling in her head.

As evening approached, they sat down for a lovely dinner to discuss their days events.

She was hoping that the topic would not arise.  To no avail, it did.  She had to decide…

Which would you choose?  Let me know.

Virtual Party Idea

I broke a bowl the other day and went on Facebook to find a consultant for Pampered Chef to find a new one as it is one of my favorites in my cupboard.

She is in California and I am in Tennessee.  How ironic that we should be able to work this out.  After finding a few other costly items that I liked and the minimum party being $150.00 ,  I had almost spent that on my own.  She suggested trying the Virtual Party to see if anyone would purchase and that would lower my cost so I made up my guest list and my wish list.

I will see how it goes and blog back to let you know how things go with it.

If any of my readers are interested in Pampered Chef products, I would appreciate the assistance as my tastes are a bit over my tiny budget.
